During a recent trip to Los Angeles we spent a few hours at legendary Venice Beach before we had to head to the airport. Apart from having a long and beautiful beach, this beach town attracts a fun crowd of everything from street performers and tattoo artists to body builders and street vendors . Nowhere […]
USA
USA is such a vast country, it is probably impossible to explore everything interesting even if you travel there for the main part of your life. America has something for every type of traveller and it is very easy to be a tourist here, especially if you rent a car, it is always easy to get around.
I have had the opportunity to visit the US many times and I even studied one semester in college in St Petersburg in Florida.
So far, I have visited the four corners of the US. I have been to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and made a road trip from Portland down through Oregon down to northern California. There is still much to discover on the west coast and my plan is to travel to Seattle this summer to hike the area round Mount Rainier.
I have been to New York a couple of times and also visited Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia.
Apart from studying in St Petersburg, we have also made several trips to Florida and been to both Miami and Key West, but also Naples, Anna Maria Island and St Petersburg on the west coast of Florida. I suspect that I will come back here again, since this is one of my favourite US states.
The lion part of the US, between the east and west coast, still remain to be discovered. Hope to be able to go on a road trip across America some day.
There is so much to discover and I have yet to discover some of the destinations that have been at the top of my bucket list my entire life, like Niagara Falls and Grand Canyon. I hope that I don’t have to wait too long before I get to visit these places.
Since there is so much to experience here in the US, sandy beaches, hikes up incredible mountains, skyscrapers in Manhattan, and more, this is probably the country with most blog posts so far on this blog. You can read them all here below.
Mount Fremont lookout hike – Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
A couple of years ago we visited Crater Lake in southern Oregon, a lake inside the caldera of a volcano which is also reportedly both the deepest lake in North America but also has the purest water. The clear blue lake is like a beautiful postcard and the visit there made a big impression on […]
Milestone: 25 countries visited
I’ve never really had an ambition to visit all countries on Earth, but I do appreciate to discover new places. We rarely go back to a travel destination that we have already visited, unless it is for a specific reason or it is one of the major tourist cities like Barcelona, London, Miami, New York […]
Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle
Seattle has a great range of attractions for tourists and in the area around the Seattle Center there are numerous museums and attractions such as the Space Needle, Chihuly Glass and Garden, and the Museum of Pop Culture gathered on a small and convenient area. If you buy a CityPass for 99 USD, entrance fee […]
Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival
The Oregon Coast is an incredibly beautiful part of the American continent and we were fortunate enough to get to borrow a large house in Lincoln City a few summer days, two years ago. Normally, holiday and beautiful sandy beaches means swimming in warm waters, but here the sea is so cold that your legs […]
Rent a bike in San Francisco and bike across the Golden Gate Bridge
One of the best ways to explore San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge is by bike. During a vacation in 2017 in California, we spent almost a week in San Francisco and I took the opportunity to cross the iconic bridge by bike. Unfortunately, our experience was not as positive as I had hoped […]
