On my recent trip to San Francisco I spent some time exploring Crissy Field and the surrounding area. Crissy Field was previously an army airfield and it is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The park is located north of Presidio and just east of the Golden Gate Bridge, which also means […]
USA
USA is such a vast country, it is probably impossible to explore everything interesting even if you travel there for the main part of your life. America has something for every type of traveller and it is very easy to be a tourist here, especially if you rent a car, it is always easy to get around.
I have had the opportunity to visit the US many times and I even studied one semester in college in St Petersburg in Florida.
So far, I have visited the four corners of the US. I have been to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and made a road trip from Portland down through Oregon down to northern California. There is still much to discover on the west coast and my plan is to travel to Seattle this summer to hike the area round Mount Rainier.
I have been to New York a couple of times and also visited Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia.
Apart from studying in St Petersburg, we have also made several trips to Florida and been to both Miami and Key West, but also Naples, Anna Maria Island and St Petersburg on the west coast of Florida. I suspect that I will come back here again, since this is one of my favourite US states.
The lion part of the US, between the east and west coast, still remain to be discovered. Hope to be able to go on a road trip across America some day.
There is so much to discover and I have yet to discover some of the destinations that have been at the top of my bucket list my entire life, like Niagara Falls and Grand Canyon. I hope that I don’t have to wait too long before I get to visit these places.
Since there is so much to experience here in the US, sandy beaches, hikes up incredible mountains, skyscrapers in Manhattan, and more, this is probably the country with most blog posts so far on this blog. You can read them all here below.
Spectacular views from Twin Peaks in San Francisco
You probably already know that San Francisco is a hilly city. Some of the streets are incredibly steep, and one analysis showed that Bradford Street in the Bernal Heights neighborhood, is the city’s steepest with an astonishing 41% grade. This makes walking and biking in the city quite cumbersome, but if you take the trouble […]

Take a walk on Tampa Riverwalk
Two weeks ago Tampa Riverwalk won the People’s Choice award as one of America’s great places, an award initiated by American Planning Association. The week before that, I visited Tampa, Florida, and had a few hours to explore the city on my own so I headed down to the waterfront. Tampa Riverwalk is a project that […]
