A weekend in Belfast It’s amazing what you can accomplish in just a weekend if you just plan a little. Or a lot… I like to plan my trips so that I get the most out of them. I recently travelled to Belfast for a weekend with a friend and we managed to experience both […]
UK/Great Britain
I have a special relationship to the UK, or Great Britian, and especially to England. My very first trip abroad when I was about 7 years old was to London (at least if I don’t count our Nordic neighbours Denmark and Norway). Coming from a small town in Sweden, it was an impactful experience to explore the big city, with all its classic details such as the black cab, the double decker buses, the red phone booths etc. I probably spent ours as a kid in toy stores such as Hamley’s and I think I bought a toy version of the USS Enterprise starship from Star Trek then.
Anyway, London has become a sort of home away from home, a place that I have visited many times since, both for work and for pleasure. And it is a place where I know my way around, everything is easy and there is always something to do.
Over the years, I have made a few trips to London with a special acitivty in mind, for example, we have seen Coldplay in concert twice, once at Emirates and once at Wembley.
I have also been to Manchester since I am a huge Manchester United fan, I wanted to see my favourite team in action at Old Trafford. I was lucky to be able to see them in a Europa League game, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the pitch. This was one of his last games with United before he got seriously injured and later moved to LA Galaxy. Manchester is a really charming place to visit, even if you are not a huge football fan. The city has a lot to offer, see more in my blog posts.
I have also had the pleasure of visiting Northern Ireland, during a weekend in Belfast and its vicinities. I can really recommend Belfast as a tourist destination and if you have the time, rent a car and drive up north to discover the astonishing Giant’s Causeway or visit the Dark Hedges and Bushmills whiskey distillery.

The streets of Belfast
I think that one of the best ways to get to know a new city is to walk as much as possible. That way you get a better sense of what life looks like in the city and how everything is connected. And you can take some great photos. I took a series of black […]
The Bank Buildings in Belfast
I spent the weekend in Belfast with a friend and had a great time. This is a thriving city with a nice mix of both old and new architecture. We really didn’t have much time for shopping so we just walked by this nice old building called the Bank Buildings. Originally it was home to […]
