USA
USA is such a vast country, it is probably impossible to explore everything interesting even if you travel there for the main part of your life. America has something for every type of traveller and it is very easy to be a tourist here, especially if you rent a car, it is always easy to get around.
I have had the opportunity to visit the US many times and I even studied one semester in college in St Petersburg in Florida.
So far, I have visited the four corners of the US. I have been to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and made a road trip from Portland down through Oregon down to northern California. There is still much to discover on the west coast and my plan is to travel to Seattle this summer to hike the area round Mount Rainier.
I have been to New York a couple of times and also visited Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia.
Apart from studying in St Petersburg, we have also made several trips to Florida and been to both Miami and Key West, but also Naples, Anna Maria Island and St Petersburg on the west coast of Florida. I suspect that I will come back here again, since this is one of my favourite US states.
The lion part of the US, between the east and west coast, still remain to be discovered. Hope to be able to go on a road trip across America some day.
There is so much to discover and I have yet to discover some of the destinations that have been at the top of my bucket list my entire life, like Niagara Falls and Grand Canyon. I hope that I don’t have to wait too long before I get to visit these places.
Since there is so much to experience here in the US, sandy beaches, hikes up incredible mountains, skyscrapers in Manhattan, and more, this is probably the country with most blog posts so far on this blog. You can read them all here below.
There is such a thing as California Champagne
Very few things beat a glass of a really good champagne. And for years I believed that for a wine to be labeled Champagne, it had to be produced in the Champagne region in France under certain conditions using the méthode champenoise. So I was slightly surprised this week when I visited Anna Maria Island […]

Last year we had the chance to celebrate 4th of July, in San Francisco. We had spent more than two weeks on the road, driving down from Portland, Oregon and now had almost a week to explore San Francisco. This road trip had taken us through some of the most amazing parks, beaches and hikes […]

Waterfalls and volcanoes – Here are the top travel destinations of 2017

A part of what makes travelling so rewarding is the chance to experience new places. I was lucky to be able to visit several new destinations in Europe and North America during 2017. I made one solo trip this year, to Manchester, and the other trips were with my family. Here are, in no particular […]

The ruins of the Sutro Baths in San Francisco

At Point Lobos in San Francisco there was once a complex of public baths built by millionaire Adolf Sutro. The Sutro Baths covered three acres and included six seawater swimming pools under enormous glass arches. The once enormously popular baths remained open until the 1950s but were destined for demolition a decade later. In 1966 the […]
