New York: Roosevelt Island Tramway

During our trip to New York in February we managed to tick off a few things on our bucket lists, like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Another fun activity that might be a little less known is to take a ride on the Roosevelt Island Tramway. It’s only a short trip from the station on 2nd Ave on Manhattan to Roosevelt Island.

The ride offers some great views of East River and close views of some nearby luxury apartments that the tram passes.

It’s a fun trip and if you have a MetroCard it doesn’t cost anything extra. You just swipe your card and enter.

We visited New York in February this year and although it was really cold, at least the skies were clear. If you want to explore the famous Brooklyn Bridge and snap a classic picture like the one below, you can take the A or C subway to Brooklyn (High Street) and then walk back over the bridge.

That way you can cover the whole distance of the bridge without having to do it twice. This walk is supposedly best at sunset when you can see the Manhattan skyline as silhouettes but it was absolutely ok during daytime as well.
